Ever see those people with just gorgeous skin? The kind that you think must have been airbrushed on like in the magazines? Well that great skin is actually super attainable!

It’s not just about applying some creams morning and night but it’s a whole lifestyle. So it’s important to understand that great skin comes from all sorts of things! Everyday, sun up and sun down!

Drink lots of water

You must get all your water in! Not only for everything on the inside but water is essential to your skin! Since most of our cells are made up of water it’s important to keep them replenished.

Water hydrates the skin, which increases your skins elasticity and fights off wrinkles! Plus, it flushes toxins and helps keep a radiant glow.

Get your Zzzz’s

Our bodies need sleep! It’s for our brains and sanity! But it’s also really good for your skin!

While we sleep, our bodies produce hormones that help regulate our skin’s beauty and proper sleep circulates blood cells, in turn bye bye under eye circles!

Keep to a healthy diet

There are lots of foods, like blueberries, bell peppers, fish, sweet potatoes, and dark chocolate (personal favorite!) that have so many good things for skin such as antioxidants, vitamins E, C, and A.

When you eat a lot junk food it clogs your skin and robs it of those nutrients which can dull your skin.

Work out

Working out is one of the best things you can do for your skin! It get’s your blood pumping and keeps your skin plump and firm.

Sweating (gross, I know!) also clears out your pores, which keeps acne away and evens out skin tone and keeps that healthy glow!

Avoid and de-stress

I mean I say avoid stress at all costs! Since that is usually inevitable though… 🙁 take some measures to help keep stress at bay.

Stress affects everyone differently but all of us can say that our skin gets a dose of that fact from acne, dark circles and spots, dull color, and saggy skin. Just to name a few things.

Here are some ways to distress:

Do an in-depth skincare routine masking, cleansing, and moisturizing, the works! Working out is a great stress reliever, pray about it, write out your frustrations, or smash something in a way that won’t hurt yourself or others. Right now, we have a dead tree in the back that gets the brunt of my aggression haha 

Apply the right skincare products with a routine

I mean this is the best part, right?? I love trying new skincare products and incorporating them into my routine!

Getting to know your skin and developing a morning and evening regime is crucial! Now it’s not just about finding a bunch of products and slapping it on your skin! No…get to know your skin and take note of what works well and what doesn’t. Be sure to keep the following things in mind when creating your skincare routine:

Don’t wash your face in the morning unless you slept in your makeup! Washing your face can strip in of essential oils that developed while you were sleeping.

How you apply skincare

Using tools can help make sure that your skin gets the most out of each product.

Application in circular motions and working upwards helps increase circulation and helps the skin absorb the most from products. 

Avoid sun exposure

Always wear your SPF of at least 30 and maximize clothing to keep out of the sun.

The sun can break down the collagen in your skin which helps keep your skin plump and firm. It can also cause premature aging with spots and discoloration.

Take your makeup off every night

It keeps your pores clogged and transfers to your pillow which then keeps your face dirty for nights to come unless you change your pillow everyday (not the worst idea but an annoying one! Haha)

 I don’t know if it’s true or not but I’ve heard that the number one thing that causes premature aging is sleeping in your makeup! It’s never a bad idea to take off your makeup! I always love taking off my makeup because my skin feels so free and weightless.

If you notice weird spots popping up or patches and nothing seems to be helping, go to the doctor!

It might seem like nothing but sometimes those nothings might need to be treated medically. My grandma let this little bump on her nose go on and on for weeks before getting talking into going to the doctor and you know what? It was CANCER! No joke, thankfully it was caught early on and a small surgery took care of the problem but what if she hadn’t taken herself to the doctor? That little problem may have been a lot worse.

Clean, clean, clean!

I’m serious! Clean your make up brushes, skincare tools, pillowcases and sheets, anything that gets near your face such as your phone or your hands. Keeping stuff clean helps keep your skin clean and blemish free!

No smoking

You’ve seen it all over the place how bad smoking is for your lungs but the skin is an organ (Tired of hearing that yet??) and the biggest one of your body! Smoking depletes your oxygen levels and leaves skin dry and discolored.

It also affects the vitamin C in your body making it difficult for your body to repair itself! Not too mention all the other nasty stuff we’ve all seen smoking do! 

Don’t forget to exfoliate

Get rid of that dead skin just sitting on top of your skin! At least once a week!

Dead skin makes absorbing good product for your skin that much harder.

Exfoliating helps your skin act younger! Also, keeps pores unclogged and remove excess oil trapped underneath which avoids acne!
