Hello, hello!! Welcome to the first blog report of 2019!
Before we go on, this post may contain affiliate links. This means that if you click on one of them, I might receive a small commission which helps keep TLMblog up and running. Don’t worry though I only ever recommend and use myself!
If you are new here than welcome again!! If this is your first read of one of my blog reports let me give you a brief overview and tell you what I’m talking about here! (Not that you can’t figure it out rather quickly bbbbuuuuttt I’m going to tell you anyways! 🙂 )
Also, if you’ve ever thought about starting a blog but haven’t yet! Take a look here! I’ll walk you through how to start your own! Plus, Siteground guarantees money back for 30 days if you truly hate it!
These reports are written to give you an overview of how things for my blog went last month, my goals for next month, both personal and blog related, what strategies went well the month before and any new ones that I’ll use for the coming month, and any income reported.
Blog reports: Why do I post them?
There is so much to learn from other people’s reports.
I simply want to contribute to that big learning funnel! Not only that I want you to know that I’m honest with you! This offers a way to be transparent not to mention these reports tell you 6 things:
- Know that the dream of blogging as a career is a real one!
- Great access to see what is working for another blogger.
- It’s a way to track progress.
- Encouragement that we’re potentially in the same boat and I’m working hard to show you some solutions for your blogging problems.
- To be transparent with you! This business won’t work for anyone if you think that I’m making it all up!
- Show you that growth is always possible and if I can do it than by all means you can do it! I’m not super special or tech savvy at ALL!
And after I just said all that! (LOL) I’m going to start out and tell you that this is will be my last monthly report and I’m taking a page from Summer @ Coffeewithsummer.com and I’ll be switching to quarterly reports.
Not because I don’t like doing them but because I just find that I would rather be writing something different for you guys like adulting advice, encouragement, or blogging tips!
If this bums you out than let me know and maybe we can figure out a monthly newsletter that I can send out to you, my wonderful readers! Just drop me an email! Contact@tlmblog.com (P.S. if you just want to chat, you can still drop me a line!)
Let’s get a personal
Alright now for a little bit of personal info about me, January was a difficult month for myself and my family.
If you’ve been following than you know that we suffered a loss with the death of my uncle, which honestly was the most major thing that happened in January.
It’s been a huge eye opener for how I live my life, my relationships and God has been showing me his great love and sense of peace, which has been amazing!
We don’t always understand what happens or why it happens but we can always take comfort that He is on our side and has our backs! (Isaiah 52:12b, Psalm 23:4, Isaiah 41:10)
With that in mind, I’ll just admit now!
All of my goals that I had set for last month were not achieved! It was simply because I was in mourning and of all things to put on the back burner, it was this blog.
I’m so sorry for that! It really was not my intention! BUT THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND STICKING AROUND!! You guys truly are awesome! (I love ya and God loves ya!!)
Let’s take a look at last month’s goals:
It’s pretty easy but I want to see 500 all across the board!
Sessions: 500 in one day
Email Subscribers: 500
Pinterest Followers: 500
I mean you get my gist!
I’m sticking with January! I’m seeking 500! All across the board!
Along with that though I’m going to update at least three older posts.
They aren’t my best work and I need to make SEO improvements. Plus help the images become more brand streamline.
Write at least 4 brand new blog posts!
Create 4 new freebies!
Apply to 2 new affiliate programs
Finish my course work in Elite Blogging Academy
On a side note, make some kind of money! Part of the dream is to be financially independent and provide you guys with great content that will help you live YOUR best lives.
How am I gonna make this happen??
Sticking to a consistent schedule! Including posting on social media
Posting quality work! It’s not about quantity but quality, readers want depth and details in their information.
Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest! Developing new eye-catching pins everyday and manually pinning.
Creating AWESOME opt-ins!
If you don’t know, an opt-in is a freebie that you create to give your readers in exchange for them to join your email group. It can a challenge, checklist, step-by-step, or something else but it’s gotta give your readers value! When you give them value they’ll see that you’re the real deal and will stick around your email list.
In my personal development:
Stick to a daily schedule
We are creatures of habit. It is so good for our bodies, minds, and souls when we find a routine that nourishes us and helps us get stuff done!
Read 2 books
Not my usual goal (I like to get through a book a week) but I’m focusing so much and creating new stuff for you guys that my reading is falling a little to the way side. However, it is a huge part of my self-care so I’m forcing myself to make more time for it!
Keep the house clean
Part of the schedule, is making sure that my house stays clean. A clean space places such a big role in my mental state that it affects my productivity. Plus, knowing that I have a clean house just makes me feel like I’m a better homemaker.
Gotta get my sweat on! I was doing so good in the beginning of January to stick to a routine but with everything that happened with Allen, it just kind of slipped away. I’m going to get back into it though because I feel so much better when I workout even if I don’t any huge physical improvements. I notice that I’m happier, less stress, more productive, and well just a better person all around!
February marks 6 months of being a blogger and 3 months doing it full time.
This is a little different than the lessons that I had talked about last month but I believe that it’s good for you to also see the bad with the good.
Hmmm what balance?? I thought that blogging would open doors to so much more freedom but it hasn’t happened yet! Blogging is my business and with that being said, business often take so much time before the owners see those benefits such as setting a more flexible schedule to do more family stuff and such. Not that I don’t believe that it will be that someday but currently I spend a vast majority of my time blogging, learning about blogging, thinking about blogging, dreaming of not being in front of a computer. (It’s actually wonderful!! I seriously wouldn’t change it for the world!)
It’s not glamorous
I thought that I would look so put together everyday because I would have the time! Showered, makeup done! Hair done! Super cute outfit on! Picture perfect everyday…No. That’s all I’m gonna it say. No, that is not what it looks like. Right now I’m sitting in my sweat pants that I’ve worn three times this already. No shame! It just is what is it. There are days when I look my best but most of the time, I just want to sit down and write! Not worry about what my hair looks like.
What can be stressful about writing all day??
Well, a lot!
It’s about figuring out your reader and creating what is going to help make their life better (No PRESSURE!!)
Then there are the times when you’ve created something that you think is gold and no one reacts to it the way that you thought they would. (Heartbreak!)
Then there are the times when you’re completely brain dead and have no ounce of creativity left even though you need a new post in 2 days.
Or let’s talk about the stress of working so hard without seeing any green? (Yeah it’s not the greatest feeling.)
Those are just a few things that I’ve been dealing with the last few months. I know that it sounds insanely depressing! But it’s honestly so worth it!! Read this last post to see more of what I mean!
Thanks for sticking around! You’re awesome! Leave me comment below with your blog’s URL so I can check it out! And if you need any post ideas, put your email in below and I’ll send you 371!!
All the best,
