How do you create a good morning routine

With the encroachment of a new year coming up way too soon! I know that it’s only October but let’s be real time! The new year will be here before we know it!  

I’ve been looking back over this past year and thinking about what has been working and what needs to be improved!

I feel very blessed this year! It’s been stressful but so much happier than the several previous years! 

I’ve become my own boss with this blogging business and a daycare business, trying to juggle new sets of challenges, and continuously reaching my goals! 

The one thing that has consistently helped me make sure that I win the day and as a result, my goals, has been a good morning routine! 

Besides all of the little things that have come together to help me make my morning routine the awesomeness that it is! 

I’ve been extreme binging on what everyone else does for their morning routines to see if there’s something that I can add to mine but also because I have this weird thing about seeing how other people live their lives LOL Am I the only one???

What are the 7 keys to a good morning routine?

1 // Anticipate the snooze button

I know that utilizing the snooze button is supposed to be a big no-no! But come on! How can anyone really just jump up out a nice warm bed into a brisk cold air?? Especially those who don’t sleep in pajamas! TMI? Sorry! 

I’m just saying that the actual waking up part is REALLY hard! 

So if you’re like me, there are two things you can do about that snooze button:

1 . Set your alarm across the room 

I’m not a big fan of this because again I like to be warm. 

2 . Set more alarms at an earlier time

This is what I do! I usually hit the snooze button a few times, just being honest! So if I started setting my alarm 30 minutes before the time that I want to get out of bed! 

2 // Have something to look forward to

It’s really hard to get out of bed when you’re dreading your morning. I know that my mornings are jam packed with stuff! Chores for the house, blog business, childcare business, and workouts! 

When it’s laid out like that I really don’t feel like getting up. 

So I always make sure to do something that I enjoy right after waking up! 

It’s my coffee and my reading! Morning time is my favorite time to read! I love being in a quiet but filled house, cold mornings, and hot coffee! It’s my little slice of heaven on earth. 

3 // Do something good for YOU

Mornings are a great time to practice your self care! Sneaking in a face mask or maybe an extra dose of caffeniene?? Mine is obviously reading but whatever YOUR form of self care is to make sure to get some you time in.

4 // Something good for your body

Working out…it’s not my favorite thing to do, I’ll admit! But working out is good for me! 

As it is for you too! Working out in the morning has so many good benefits that it’s almost insane to ignore them.

  • Better fat burning ability
  • Higher energy
  • Happier mood due to the endorphins
  • Lower stress

Just to name a few! 

And you don’t have to do a real intense workout! Do some light stretching, yoga, take a quick walk, or just throw in like 20 pushups! Just get your body moving!

I also love that once it’s done, it’s DONE! You don’t have to worry about squeezing in a workout during lunch break or having the motivation to do it after work.

5 // Time for goals

I doubt that there will be anytime during this cycle of life when there isn’t some sort of goal that you or I will be working toward. 

Having a dedicated time in the morning is a great time to do something for that dream! 

Odds are the house will still be quieter, thus less distractions! 

I also know that for me and a lot of people actually work better in the morning so it’s a perfect time to make the MOST out of that time. When you’re at your prime brain working time LOL

6 // A little clean up

I like to add in at least one little chore to my mornings. Usually something small and easy like the leftover dishes or sweeping the main floor or just picking up a little. I love this because I feel more accomplished before the day has even really started and I know that when I come home my house won’t feel like a pig stye! 

7 // Spend some time with the Lord

The most important thing that I’ll do ALL day is, is spending some intentional time with God. 

What I mean by intentional is to focus on what I’m reading in the Bible and actively try to relate to what has been written and how it can be applied to my life. 

Also, in communication with God. I try hard to make this time not just about asking about things but also to express my love and gratitude to him as well as LISTEN. 

Listening to what the Lord is trying to say to you is just as important as talking to him. 

Remember that it’s a relationship and that means it’s a two way street!

Having a good morning will lead to a good day! It might seem like a small thing, a morning routine, but it’s the foundation of your day. And a good foundation is never a bad thing! Actually it’s totally necessary!
